ANDAMAN AND NICOBAR ISLANDS, INDIA, JUL 11 – The Indian Coast Guard towed the disabled yacht Sea Angel to safety, rescuing two U.S. nationals amid rough seas with blown sail and entangled propeller, officials said.
- The Indian Coast Guard rescued two crew members from the disabled US yacht Sea Angel southeast of Indira Point on July 11, 2025.
- The rescue was initiated after a distress signal was received at 11:57 a.m. on July 10 by the Indian Coast Guard’s Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre in Port Blair, alerting them that the yacht had lost propulsion while navigating rough waters.
- ICGS Rajveer was deployed by MRCC Port Blair, reached the yacht by 5:30 p.m., established communication, assessed the situation, and took the vessel under tow amid heavy winds and mechanical faults.
- At 6:50 p.m., the Sea Angel was secured for towing and accompanied to Campbell Bay, where it reached the harbor by 8 a.m. on July 11, with all crew members reported to be safe and in good health.
- The operation demonstrated the Indian Coast Guard’s professionalism and commitment to maritime safety during a swift and successful rescue in turbulent conditions.
