Sweden has been a member of the alliance since last year, and on Saturday a mechanized infantry battalion arrived in the Latvian capital.

On Saturday, January 18, 600 Swedish soldiers arrived in Latvia by sea as part of Sweden's first ground operation as a NATO member country. The Swedish battalion will guard the border with Russia for the next six months.
