On Tuesday, Gurugram police arrested Kalyan Bainsla in Dausa, Rajasthan, for allegedly harassing and striking a motorcyclist with his Maruti Suzuki Ciaz on Golf Course Road.
Shivani Chauhan, also known as Sia, shared viral footage showing the car hitting her motorcycle; she alleged the occupants were intoxicated and had stalked her group shortly after they began riding.
Police later added "attempted murder" to the charges, though advocate Naveen Baisla rejected the "hit-and-run case" description, arguing his client acted defensively after the motorcyclists provoked him.
Investigators are ascertaining the role of Lovneesh, Bainsla's cousin who was in the car, as authorities will produce the accused in a city court seeking police remand.
The incident reignited concerns about women's safety on roads, as riding coach Divya Sandhu noted attitudes have changed little, stating, "It's very common for people to joke about women's driving skills.
