The Czech Republic's Ministry of Defense has approved an extension of the lease agreement with Sweden for the Jas 39 Gripen fighter aircraft until 2035, reports the Bloomberg news agency.
The Swedish offer to extend the lease of 12 JAS-39 Gripen aircraft for 16.695 billion crowns has been approved by the Defense Minister's board. The draft contract will now be submitted to the government for discussion. The Defense Ministry announced this in a press release on Tuesday. According to the Ministry, the lease price for the years 2027 to 2035 includes, in addition to the lease of 12 fighters, money for servicing and pilot training.
