Funeral for Volhynian crime victims exhumed in Puzniki
Organizers of the exhumations, many of whom were present at Saturday's funeral, hope that they will hope to heal this long-held spot of contention between Poland and Ukraine. 42 people in total were laid to rest in the first joint exhumation of its kind held on Ukrainian territory in years.
"I hope that the process of Polish-Ukrainian reconciliation will begin in earnest," President Karol Nawrocki said in a letter addressed to those attending the funeral of the victims of the Volhynian massacre in Puźniki. Also attending the ceremony were Senate Speaker Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska and Minister of Culture Marta Cienkowska.
