An appeals court in southern France increased Husamettin Dogan’s sentence to 10 years for raping Gisèle Pelicot while she was drugged and unconscious, amid a landmark sexual violence case.
- On Thursday, October 9, a French appeals court in Nîmes increased Husamettin Dogan's jail term to 10 years from nine after his failed appeal.
- Evidence shown in court indicates Dominique Pelicot drugged his wife for nearly a decade and filmed assaults in their Mazan home, including when Dogan visited on June 28, 2019 and assaulted her for more than three hours.
- Dogan told the court `I performed a sexual act, I never raped anyone`, while investigators recovered 107 photos and 14 videos, including footage of penetration of an inert Pelicot.
- The court ordered Dogan to serve 10 years and undergo mandatory treatment for five years, Jean-Marc Darrigade said Dogan will not appeal again, and Avignon civil proceedings are due in November.
