DAVIDSON COUNTY, TENNESSEE, JUL 31 – The Music City Loop aims to reduce traffic congestion with an eight-minute transit time and will be fully privately funded, according to Tennessee Governor Bill Lee's office.
- Tennessee Governor Bill Lee on Monday announced The Boring Company will build the Music City Loop in Nashville, connecting downtown, the Convention Center, and BNA.
- Thursday morning, the State Building Commission approved a no-cost lease of one acre of state land at the foot of Capitol Hill to Tesla, breaking ground on the lithium refinery earlier this year.
- Privately funded, the Music City Loop will use Tesla vehicles to provide an eight-minute transit in tunnels beneath Nashville, with no taxpayer cost, Lee said.
- Opponents cited lack of transparency, environmental concerns, and criticized exclusion of elected officials, including `State Rep. Justin Jones, D-Nashville`, from the Thursday event.
- After approvals are received, the first segment is expected to be operational as early as fall of 2026.
