Ex-police officer gets prison for $7M Mass Save fraud
A former Stoneham police officer will face prison after he was convicted of paying tens of thousands of dollars in bribes and kickbacks so he and his brother could earn millions of dollars in contracts from the Mass Save energy program, federal officials said.Joseph Ponzo, 51, of Stoneham, was sentenced in federal court in Boston on Friday to 27 months in prison, followed by two years of supervised release.
