Sunday's incident at the District Electoral Commission No. 150 in Szczecin caused a storm around the procedures for verifying the right to vote. A member of the commission, instead of immediately issuing a ballot card, entered the certificate number of one of the voters into a private application. The situation required police intervention.
A member of the electoral commission did not want to issue a ballot card to one of the voters at a polling station in Szczecin, reports TVN24 reporter Bartosz Bartkowiak. The OKW representative allegedly tried to enter the voting rights certificate number into a private application. The police were called to the scene.
"A member of the commission has no right to refuse to vote just because something was displayed in an unofficial application," the head of the National Electoral Office commented on the matter after the first round of elections. Meanwhile, some politicians recommend that the commissions use the Electoral Control Movement application in the second round of the presidential elections.
