Driver Arrested After Allegedly Hopping Curb to Chase Child on a Dirt Bike in Washington
Deputies said Wendy A. Clemente was intoxicated and resisted arrest after chasing a juvenile on a dirt bike and later trying door handles at a nearby home.
- On Tuesday, April 28, deputies with the Spokane County Sheriff's Office arrested 56-year-old Wendy A. Clemente following two incidents within 25 minutes in the West Terrace Neighborhoods. She faces charges including attempted first-degree assault, DUI, and criminal trespass.
- Clemente drove her silver Ford Focus onto a sidewalk near South Fruitvale Road to chase a child on a dirt bike; about 25 minutes later, deputies received a burglary report one mile away at a home on West Melville Road where a suspect tried door handles.
- Court documents state the driver was "level 7 intoxicated on a scale of 1-10." When deputies located her, Clemente resisted arrest by kicking a deputy and later claimed she was searching for dogs for her pet to socialize with.
- Deputies booked Clemente into the Spokane County Jail on the charges; her first appearance in Spokane County Superior Court was set for April 29th, but the court waived the hearing and released her on her own recognizance.
- The Spokane County Prosecutor's Office is "still reviewing all information" on the case and has not made a final charging decision, as KREM reports investigators continue evaluating evidence regarding the April 28 incidents to determine formal charges.
