- Convened to mark goals from 30 years ago, the summit builds on the Copenhagen Summit amid high global uncertainty, divisions and conflicts, organisers said.
- About 40 heads of state and 14,000 delegates attended, and the Doha Political Declaration commits to poverty eradication, `decent work`, social integration, gender equality and climate action.
- Leaders linked social progress to peace and stability and urged increased support for Gaza, noting the UN estimates more than $70bn is needed to rebuild the territory.
- While citing progress, leaders warned that nearly 700 million live in extreme poverty and almost four billion lack social protection, though over one billion have escaped extreme poverty.
