Water Cut Off for Thousands of Iranians After U.S. Strikes: Iranian State Media
Iran said 20,000 residents lost drinking water after US strikes damaged two reservoirs in Sirik, as officials sought alternatives for affected villages.
On Wednesday, thousands of Iranians in the port town of Sirik lost access to drinking water after United States strikes hit two reservoirs, Iranian state media reported.
The military operation followed United States strikes on radar systems after an Iranian one-way attack drone brought down a US Army Apache helicopter over Gulf waters.
Strikes damaged reservoirs supplying the Bemani and Kouhestak areas, and Abdolhamid Hamzehpour, a senior water company official in Hormozgan, reported efforts were under way to find alternatives for affected villages.
In response, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps launched long-range missiles at four locations within the US Azraq base in Jordan, describing the operation as retaliatory.
Tensions continue to intensify as both sides exchange retaliatory actions, with Washington characterizing its initial strikes as a "proportional response to unjustified Iranian aggression.
More than 20,000 people were left without drinking water in the south of Iran after the latest US airstrikes, Iranian media reported today on social networks.
