Suspect in deadly Minneapolis crash charged with homicide, federal weapons and drug counts
- Derrick John Thompson has been charged with 10 counts of criminal vehicular homicide, federal firearms, and drug charges, after a crash that killed five young women in Minneapolis.
- Thompson rented a Cadillac Escalade SUV only 24 minutes before the crash and had been freed from a California prison for a hit-and-run a few months prior. Investigators recovered a Glock handgun and drugs from the wreckage of the SUV.
- Thompson is prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition as a convicted felon.
