Bonds, Clemens on Baseball Hall's Contemporary Era Ballot
The committee ballot includes four returning candidates and four new players from the 1980s onward, with a 75% vote required for Hall of Fame induction.
- On Nov 3, 2025, the Contemporary Baseball Era ballot lists Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Don Mattingly and Dale Murphy, joined by Carlos Delgado, Jeff Kent, Gary Sheffield and Fernando Valenzuela.
- The Hall restructured its veterans committees in 2022, creating a contemporary era panel that considers players from 1980 on, and the ballot was set by the BBWAA's 11-person historical overview committee.
- Clemens recorded 354 career wins and is an 11-time All-Star and seven-time Cy Young winner, while Bonds set the home run record with 762 and Sheffield hit 509 homers with 1,676 RBIs.
- A 16-person committee will vote and the panel requires a 75% threshold for election, with results released Dec. 7 and any electees inducted on July 26.
- Bonds and Clemens have previously fallen short on BBWAA ballots and both deny knowingly using performance-enhancing drugs; Valenzuela, who died in October 2024, returns after earlier limited BBWAA support.
