- During the INDIA bloc's Voter Adhikar Yatra on Wednesday, a viral recording of derogatory remarks at Bithauli Chowk led the BJP to file an FIR and demand apologies.
- Following a complaint, authorities registered an FIR at Simri police station and Darbhanga police took Mohammad Rizvi alias Raja into custody late Thursday, continuing interrogation.
- Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar condemned the indecent language and urged apologies from Congress and RJD, while Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath called them hooligans who created anarchy after coming to power.
- The episode has prompted Congress denial of responsibility, a local Congress worker Mohd Naushad's apology claiming absence, and BJP workers' protests and effigy burnings, escalating tensions in poll-bound Bihar.
