Teachers recognized for 25 years of service
More than 650 teachers from 115 school districts in Kansas -- including Columbus -- with 25 or more years of service to education were honored by the School of Education at the University of Kansas. Receiving the recognition from Columbus were Buddy Derfelt, CJSHS biology teacher, Debra Tocchi, Central Second Grade and Melissa Smiley, CJSHS FACS/Culinary Arts teacher.
