Government formation - CSU approves joint coalition agreement with CDU and SPD

The coalition agreement stands, now it should be quick. By July the "most important stakes" are to be implemented, CDU Secretary General Carsten Linnemann announces in ZDF.

The new government will hand over the Federal Ministry of the Interior from the SPD to the CSU. In the coalition agreement, a "turn of time" in internal security is proclaimed.

The CSU approved the joint coalition agreement with the CDU and the SPD. The unanimous decision was taken by the party executive, the CSU state group in the Bundestag and the Bavarian state parliament members. Yesterday, the negotiating teams of the three parties agreed on the goals of a joint government.

CSU boss Markus Söder speaks of a "real change of direction", which was negotiated in the coalition paper. The CSU unanimously approved the contract.

The 144-page document is without question a great victory for the SPD. It bears its handwriting in large parts. But also CSU boss Markus Söder has some reason to rejoice.
