As China's economy continues to decline, credit card usage has also significantly cooled. By June 2025, the number of credit cards and combined debit cards will have fallen by 92 million, with a 40 million decrease in 2024 alone, a drop of over 11%. Reports also indicate that credit card usage among those born after 1990 has dropped by 29% over the past five years.
