- Market data showed shares of several targeted firms fell on the Tokyo Stock Exchange while the Yen dipped 0.4% to 155.27 per US dollar, and Chinese tourists declined 61% in January.
- Tokyo signalled a response, with a Japanese trade official saying it would "take appropriate measures" after analysing the curbs, while China's Commerce Ministry assurances stressed the measures target few entities and will not affect normal economic and trade exchanges between China and Japan.
