In Burundi, the President set aside his Foreign Minister, who criticized Qatar on social media, accusing the country of using "his influence and his money with the United States to deter them from acting" in eastern DRC. Kinshasa and the AFC/M23 group launched negotiations in Doha, which culminated in a joint declaration in July calling for a ceasefire, but which had little effect on the ground, especially near the Burundian border.
