Plotters included current and former soldiers, as well as terrorist leaders, who planned to swarm the presidential palace on 16 April 2025.

The military regime in power in Burkina Faso claimed on Monday evening, 21 April, that it had foiled a "great plot in preparation" aimed at "sowing total chaos" and whose brains would be located in Côte d'Ivoire.

The Minister of Security of Burkina Faso announced that an attempt to destabilize had just been thwarted by the security services. Ouagadougou claimed that conspirators had planned an assault on the presidential palace on 16 April 2025, with religious and customary officials who had been contacted to convince some officers to associate with the project.
