Ducks Trade Mason McTavish to Blues for 2 First-Rounders
The Ducks move on from the 23-year-old center after he posted 42 points in 2025-26 and signed a six-year, $42 million contract less than nine months ago.
The Blues acquired Mason McTavish from The Ducks in exchange for the 15th and 29th overall picks in the 2026 NHL Draft.
McTavish, 23, signed a six-year contract with The Ducks nine months ago but faced healthy scratches during a season of inconsistent production, prompting the organization to move on.
Coming into the NHL Draft with several first-round picks, The Blues sacrificed two to add McTavish to a young core featuring Robert Thomas, Jimmy Snuggerud, and Dylan Holloway.
In St. Louis, McTavish reunites with Greg Cronin, recently hired as lead assistant to Jim Montgomery, positioning him to improve consistency under familiar coaching.
Despite past criticism about his speed, the forward joins The Blues as they push for a Stanley Cup Playoffs spot in 2026-27, bolstering their roster immediately.
