- Around 1 pm, as leaders stepped out of their car, a mob of around 500 persons surrounded the convoy, pushing Shankar Ghosh while security intervened.
- BJP leaders accused the ruling Trinamool of orchestrating the assault, with BJP National Spokesperson Sambit Patra calling it `jungle raj` and Trinamool leader Debangshu Bhattacharya denying involvement saying `There were no party flags`.
- With the Mamata-police present, BJP leaders condemned the assault and demanded immediate arrests as floods and landslides cause at least 24 deaths, and Mamata Banerjee is set to visit the affected districts later today.

Tension erupted in West Bengal’s Nagrakata on Monday when BJP MP Khagen Murmu and MLA Shankar Ghosh were attacked by locals while visiting flood-hit areas. Both sustained injuries and were taken to a local hospital. Videos show Murmu with blood from his nose and the leaders’ car windshield shattered, while Ghosh suffered minor injuries and torn clothes. Police promptly reached the scene.
