For years, the Great Dictation of the Dutch Language was the high mass for language lovers and spelling freaks, until it stopped on TV in 2016. Now, if it is up to CD&V, the letter brewery is coming back to life. The Flemish Christian Democrats are advocating a fresh, new version of the language spectacle. Frits Spits (77), who has kept the Radio Dictation alive for years, is all for it.
Frits Spits, a fervent ambassador of the Dutch language, is advocating that the Groot Dictee der Nederlandse Taal should be broadcast on television again. He said this on Saturday in an interview with De Telegraaf. Spits was responding to a plan by the Belgian party CD&V, which advocated for this in the Belgian parliament.
