German army struggles to attract new recruits from Gen Z
Podcaster Ole Nymoen (27) acknowledges that he enjoys democratic rights, such as freedom of expression, in his native Germany, but he doesn't want to die for them. In his latest book, "Why I Won't Fight for My Country," Nymoen argues that civilians should not be sent to fight, even to ward off invasions. He says that foreign occupation might lead to a "terrible" life, but "it's better to be occupied than to die."

The military officer of the Bundestag, Högl, considers a new form of military service possible. With regard to the coalition negotiations, the SPD politician on Deutschlandfunk said that there would be some kind of obligation - at least one survey by questionnaires and a sample of young men.
