Asylum seeker found guilty over hotel worker's murder
- An asylum seeker was found guilty of murdering Rhiannon Skye Whyte at Bescot Stadium train station after CCTV showed Deng Chol Majek following her from the Park Inn hotel.
- Before arriving to claim asylum in the UK, Deng Chol Majek, from Sudan, said he spent time in Libya, Italy and Germany before arriving in July last year.
- Answering defence questions through an interpreter, Deng Chol Majek said he `never had a problem with anyone` and `had never noticed Ms Whyte`; he denied being at the platform and said `I was staying in the hotel, outside.`
- Prosecutors said the victim, 27-year-old Rhiannon Skye Whyte, was stabbed 19 times in the head and 23 times in total last year.
- He said he had never spoken to her during the three months he lived at the hotel and told the court he travelled through Libya, Italy and Germany before arriving in July last year.
