Ask Lucas: It’s my friend’s first Pride month. Am I making myself ‘the main character?’

Dear Lucas: Earlier this year, one of my friends came out as a member of the LGBTQ community, and this June is their first Pride Month. I’m over-the-moon happy, and I’ve been scheduling events all month for us. Recently, however, an acquaintance suggested I was going too far by “making myself the main character.” I don’t think that’s what I’m doing, but I don’t want to come off the wrong way. Should I tone it down?
