The parliamentary group of Sumar in the Congress of Deputies has submitted a proposal not of law (PNL), for discussion in the Committee on Education, Vocational Training and Sports, with the aim of urging the Government to ensure that Aragonese and Asturian, although not expressly recognized as co-officials in their statutes, can be taught and studied in the Official Language Schools (EOI) throughout Spain.
A study by the University of Zaragoza puts the number of people with knowledge of the language at 35,000 and the number of effective speakers at 8,000.
