Apple announces new Issey Miyake Apple pocket phone carrier
- On Nov. 11, Apple Inc. unveiled the iPhone Pocket, which will be sold starting Friday, Nov. 14, on the Apple website and at select Apple retailers in eight countries.
- Designed with Issey Miyake, the pouch uses stretchy nylon and polyester with pleats mirroring Miyake's Pleats Please design and fits any iPhone, inspired by a 'piece of cloth.'
- Priced at $149.95 and $229.95, the product comes in two sizes with a short strap available in eight colors and a long strap offered in three colors.
- Internet commenters criticized the steep price, comparing the pouch unfavorably to the $29 iPod Socks, while The Verge and Marques Brownlee also questioned the launch.
- Following the iPhone 17 launch, the pouch collaboration drew attention because late Issey Miyake designed Steve Jobs' iconic turtlenecks and will have a limited release in select Apple stores and online.
