Nigeria: EFCC Accuses Emefiele of Alleged Receipt of $17.1m Kickbacks
- EFCC operative Alvan Gurumnaan testified on Tuesday in Lagos about former CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele allegedly receiving $17.1 million through aide Monday Osazuwa.
- The allegations stem from a case currently before the court involving Godwin Emefiele and his associate Henry Omoile, who face 26 counts related to corruption and abuse of office spanning from 2020 to 2023.
- Gurumnaan said Osazuwa collected cash from a Lagos businessman and delivered it mostly on Fridays to Emefiele's Ikoyi residence, then passed it to Omoile per instructions.
- Gurumnaan noted the EFCC obtained intelligence reports, sent inquiries to CBN and agencies, and said one aide, Eric Udoh, remains wanted internationally despite summons and a red notice.
- Justice Rahman Oshodi adjourned the trial to October 7, 2025, for continuation after the prosecution and defense discussed evidence inspection and forensic analysis requests.
