Al-Falah University's Dr Hassan, Fired by J&K Government, Missing After Delhi Blast

Dr Nisar-Ul-Hassan, dismissed earlier for terror links, is now absconding; 2,900 kg of explosives seized and multiple doctors from Al-Falah University arrested, officials said.

  • On Monday, a high-intensity blast near Delhi's Red Fort metro station killed 12 people and followed arrests of eight people and seizure of 2,900 kilograms of explosives tied to a `white-collar terror module`.
  • Documents show Dr Nisar-ul-Hassan was employed at Al-Falah University, Faridabad, Haryana as a Senior Resident Doctor and pursued studies there after his 2013 dismissal, while a November 21, 2023 order said the Lieutenant Governor was satisfied his activities warranted dismissal.
  • Police conducted inspections throughout Tuesday, searching the 76-acre university campus, including the hostel, and questioned several people while Dr Nisar is reportedly absconding and his daughter has been taken into custody.
  • Al-Falah University stated it stands in solidarity with the nation and is extending full cooperation as two alleged suspects from Lucknow, Dr Muzzamil Shakeel and Dr Shaheen Shahid, also worked there.
  • Investigators say the case involves Jaish-e-Mohammed and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind across Kashmir, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, and Dr Umar Un Nabi from Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir, served as an assistant professor.
