In the midst of a debate on the law on the end of life – divided into two texts dealing with palliative care on the one hand and help to die on the other – Dominique, 64, returns for Marianne on the trip to Belgium of her 67-year-old companion in order to resort to euthanasia, in February 2024. Like Isabelle (whose first name was changed), that year, 106 people crossed the border to benefit from this procedure, legalized in the country in 2002.
In inhumane conditions, 81-year-old Gerard from Duiven was in a nursing home with dementia. When he was still lucid, he knew he never wanted to experience lying in his own excrement for the rest of his days. But that did happen, and it got worse, much worse. This is how it went on.
