After a decade of neglect, can Batemoor hope again?

It’s the hottest day of the year so far and I’m walking round the Costa del Batemoor, going door to door like a Jehovah’s Witness, in order to spread the good news. Given half the neighbourhood seems to be sitting on their front steps soaking up the sun — while lager and lollies positively fly out of the shops — I could have saved myself a lot of time and effort if I’d had it printed on a sign to wear around my neck.
