DENMARK, JUL 7 – Denmark plans to raise defence spending to 3.2% of GDP and extend military draft to women as part of efforts to strengthen security against Russian threats, officials said.
- Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen warned that Russia could pose a credible security threat to the European Union by 2030 and called for ramping up defense industries within five years.
- Frederiksen stated, "Strengthening Europe’s defense industry is a top priority, and we have to be able to defend ourselves by 2030 at the latest," during a speech to EU lawmakers in Strasbourg, France.

The Danish Presidency of the EU Council reaffirmed Poland's priority in strengthening the security of the Community block, calling for a strengthening of the defence industry with its eyes fixed in Ukraine.
Europe must take responsibility for its own security. Denmark will focus on a “secure Europe” and a “competitive and green Europe”.
