Geert Wilders was looking forward to winning the Dutch snap election, triggered by his withdrawal from the government. Instead, his Party for Freedom lost 11 seats, gaining the same 26 seats as the centrist liberal D66, which it narrowly lost to. D66 has strengthened significantly, having previously had only nine seats.
It's a week before the elections. Reporter Pim Sedee texts me: "Should I cover D66?" Knowing Pim, I know he's already focused on election night. That requires a lot of preparation.
