- A joint team of Army, police, CRPF, 53 Rashtriya Rifles, and Special Forces launched the search operation in Bratel Soan and Khubban areas of Majalta around 9 p.m. on Wednesday following information about suspected terrorists.
- "Contact was established between terrorists and security forces late at night," officials said. Security forces targeted a suspected hideout with blasts and firing shortly after the operation began.
- Terrorists opened heavy fire Thursday morning attempting to break the cordon; security forces retaliated while recovering arms and ammunition from the site during the ongoing search.
- Authorities are currently ascertaining the identities of the deceased terrorists. The operation follows the recent killing of a Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba commander in Budgam earlier this month.
