Greta Thunberg Calls Out Ed Sheeran Amid Macklemore Tour Fallout, Says 'There Is Only One Victim Here'
Thunberg said Sheeran’s tour decision sidelined Palestinian advocacy after Macklemore’s pro-Palestinian remarks drew venue threats, with several opening acts also leaving.
On Wednesday, activist Greta Thunberg shared an Instagram post from the Humaniti Project criticizing Ed Sheeran, declaring, "Ed, there is only one victim here: the Palestinian people," after Macklemore was dropped from the tour.
The tour dispute began after Macklemore voiced support for Palestinians during concerts, and Robert Kraft, owner of the New England Patriots, allegedly issued an ultimatum to stadium owners regarding the rapper's participation.
Sheeran stated Tuesday that promoters decided to drop Macklemore, not him, while artists including Finneas, Lukas Graham, Aaron Rowe, and Beoga withdrew from the tour in solidarity.
Thunberg replied to Macklemore on Monday, offering "Full solidarity and free Palestine," and called for expanded support for the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement.
The conflict highlights a fundamental disconnect: Macklemore reported Sheeran found "Free Palestine" flags hurtful to some, arguing a significant divide exists between their perspectives on the issue.
