Appeal for Information on Vehicles After Woman Assaulted
The young Traveller woman was airlifted to a specialist head trauma unit after a violent group assault on a key regional road, Gardaí said investigations continue.
- On Saturday, Scarlett Faulkner, a woman in her 20s, suffered catastrophic head injuries during a violent assault on the R494 near Birdhill, Co Tipperary. She was discovered on the roadside and airlifted to hospital.
- Gardaí are working on theories that Faulkner was in a car forced off the road by a group, after which she was dragged from the vehicle and attacked with weapons. The investigation continues.
- Investigators are seeking information on a grey 162 Ford Transit van and a blue 161 Volkswagen Touran seen driving dangerously between 4:30pm and 5:30pm on Saturday in the Birdhill area. Dash-cam footage is requested.
- Faulkner was transferred to Cork University Hospital on Sunday, where she remains in critical condition. Limerick Fianna Fáil TD Niall Collins called the incident "truly shocking" and "truly concerning."
- Gardaí urged the public not to share graphic video footage of the attack circulating online, asking witnesses instead to contact Nenagh Garda Station at 1800 666 111. "Investigations are ongoing," a spokeswoman added.
