Midtown Wilmington YMCA gearing up for major expansion

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Midtown YMCA on George Anderson Drive is hoping to get the green light from the city on a major expansion.  Earlier this month, the YMCA of Southeastern North Carolina submitted plans to the city for a $15 million expansion that would include a new aquatics center, classrooms, and a multi-use outdoor space.  The expansion would more than double the midtown y’s current footprint from 16,000 square feet to around 48,000…

YMCA welcomes community to night of fun

Overcast skies and mild summer temperatures didn’t stop the Spencer Family YMCA from hosting its annual Block Party, spanning indoors and outdoors. Wednesday evening, staff and volunteers at the YMCA served a hot dog meal, provided inflatables — some with water — and Molina Healthcare gave away some bikes to young attendees.
