ARNOLDS PARK — The Iowa Rock 'n Roll Music Association has announced that the 2024 Veterans Concert will be held on Nov. 7 at the Roof Garden Ballroom in Arnolds Park. This event will have live music provided by Galaxy. Doors open at 5 p.m. Concert is scheduled from 6-8 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door.
Veterans are admitted for free with their military ID. General admission tickets are $15 and $12 for members.

DES MOINES — State Auditor Rob Sand will stop in Spencer, at Sunset Park, from 5-6 p.m., Tuesday.
The visit is a continuation of his 100 Town Hall Tour across Iowa's 99 counties this week with added stops in Dickinson, Emmet, Palo Alto, Clay and Buena Vista counties Tuesday.
Sand plans to make up for canceled town halls due to flooding events earlier this year. Members of the public and press are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Sand to continue Town Halls at Sunset Park

Prairie Lakes Division of Model Railroaders will host its annual gathering at the Clay County Fair & Events Center, in Spencer, from 8 p.m. to 3 p.m.
The Smokey Mountain Railroad Depot will be open that day as well.
There will be $3 charge for adults, and kids get in free.

PERRY — Iowa communities impacted by devastating floods and tornadoes this year continue to receive disaster relief support from Farm Credit Services of America. To date, FCSAmerica has donated $295,000 to aid relief efforts in Iowa, helping local residents rebuild and recover.

The Spencer City Council is weighing whether or not to create a set of city-funded microgrant programs designed to support property owners as they work to rebuild homes and businesses in the wake of the June 22 flood.

Council considering microgrant program to help revive flood-damaged rental units

Clay County voters interested in voting absentee for the Nov. 5 general election may file requests for absentee ballots with the Clay County Auditor’s Office.
Voters wishing to receive a ballot by mail for the general election will need to complete an absentee ballot request form and return it to the Clay County Auditor’s Office, 300 W. Fourth St., Suite 4, in Spencer, before 5 p.m., on Monday, Oct. 21.

With the awareness of isolation and the effects of inflation, seniors in the county need support, now more than ever. In some cases, seniors in our area are living on a very limited income and may not be with their families at Christmas.
