Former X Factor contestant Gabrielle Carrington denies murdering influencer
Gabrielle Carrington pleaded not guilty to murder and grievous bodily harm charges after a 29-year-old influencer died from the alleged hit-and-run.
- On Monday, former X Factor finalist Gabrielle Carrington, 29, denied murdering social media influencer Klaudia Zakrzewska, pleading not guilty to murder and causing grievous bodily harm with intent to security guard Anoush Chyche.
- Prosecutors allege Carrington struck Zakrzewska with a car outside the Inca nightclub in Argyll Street, Soho, on April 19, following an altercation that preceded Zakrzewska's death from injuries on April 25.
- Carrington, a former member of Miss Dynamix with more than 365,000 Instagram followers, represented herself during Monday's hearing, while court charges indicate she had 61 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath after the incident.
- Judge Sarah Whitehouse remanded Carrington into custody and scheduled the trial to begin at the Old Bailey on January 5, after the defendant stated she did not want to represent herself "for the foreseeable."
- While Carrington denied murder, she was not asked to enter a plea to a third charge of driving with excess alcohol; the court set further pre-trial hearings for August 11 and October 9 to prepare for trial.
