Elon Musk’s X Adds Bitcoin Trading Links for U.S. Users
The feature lets users tap cashtags, view live charts and route orders to partner platforms, X said.
- On Tuesday, X launched the Cashtag Partner Program for United States users, linking stock and crypto tickers to five trading platforms: Coinbase, Gemini, Kraken, Interactive Brokers, and Moomoo.
- Smart Cashtags, which X introduced earlier in 2026, provide real-time charts and financial data. Product Engineering Lead Mridul Singhai said "Cashtags close the gap" between market chatter and trading venues.
- Users tap a cashtag like $BTC or $TSLA, view live data and related posts, then select "Trade" to be redirected to a partner platform. Sign-in or registration occurs at the partner's site.
- Execution occurs entirely within each partner's infrastructure, as X does not act as a broker or custodian. Geographic restrictions and account eligibility requirements remain in effect for all United States participants.
- Kraken stated there is "more to come" regarding the program, though X has not announced expansion beyond the United States. The Cashtag Partner Program remains separate from X Money, the platform's payments product.
