At the beginning of 1940, Allied soldiers were encircled by the German Wehrmacht in the French coastal town of Dunkirk. This is followed by the largest military sea evacuation of all time.
On June 3, 1940, Major James Campbell Clouston, a great actor of Operation Dynamo, died at sea. In Dunkirk the last embarkations for England took place. Arriving at Folkestone, overseas, the 12-year-old Leon, after fleeing Escaudain (North) and losing his family on the road, testified in the press.
