- On Sunday, Staffordshire Police arrested a 43-year-old woman from Stafford on suspicion of murder after two children, Meraj Ul Zahra, two, and Abdul Momin Alfaateh, three, were found dead at a Corporation Street home and detained her under the Mental Health Act.
- West Midlands Ambulance Service attended shortly before 07:30 BST on Sunday and called police to Corporation Street, Stafford, where forensic officers examined the property and a cordon remained in place.
- The case was referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct as routine, and Staffordshire Police confirmed the woman detained is related to the victims.
- Neighbours laid flowers at the cordon, with Ben Lowe adding two bouquets on Monday, while residents described the street as a "very family-orientated area" left sombre by the deaths and Leigh Ingham, MP for Stafford, called the news absolutely heartbreaking.
- Staffordshire Police urged anyone with information to contact 101 or Live Chat quoting incident number 147 of 12 October, with Det Insp Kirsty Oldfield saying, `We are working hard to understand more about what happened leading up to these two children tragically losing their lives`.
