In an interview with India Today TV, former Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram on Thursday described the recent GST overhaul as a “necessary step, but not a sufficient step” to boost the nation’s economy.
A historic decision was taken in the 56th GST Council meeting, under which the tax slabs of 12% and 28% have been abolished. Now only two slabs - 5% and 18% will remain.
