On January 6, the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China issued Announcement No. 1 of 2026, prohibiting the export of all dual-use items to Japanese military users, for military purposes, and for any other end-user applications that could enhance Japan's military capabilities. Moreover, without giving Japan any breathing room, "This announcement shall take effect immediately from the date of its promulgation."
