UPDATE: Two men dead after apparent murder-suicide in Freeport Thursday

A preliminary investigation by the Stephenson County Coroner and Illinois State Police Crime Scene Investigators shows Wirsing was hit multiple times by projectiles and Laird sustained one gunshot wound consistent with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

FREEPORT, Ill. (WTVO) — Freeport Police report two men are dead after an apparent murder-suicide. Law enforcement was seen to have blocked off the parking lot of Elite Storage, a U-Haul rental agency in the 1700 block of South Galena Avenue. Authorities said Paul Laird, 50, and Chad Wirsing, 51, were both found dead inside the residence where they were sent.
