Eight sites close on December 20th.
As has been known since September 2025, the supermarket chain UNIMARKT, based in Traun ( Linz-Land district), withdraws from the food trade. Initially, it was said that all locations should be sold, close eight branches in Upper Austria, Lower Austria and Styria fixed before Christmas. Further closures could follow in 2026. The withdrawal of Unimarkt takes concrete forms: As of December 20th, at least eight branches close, and in the end it could reach about one third of the more than 90 locations. In Salzburg, three of the five Unimarkt branches are likely to be history soon.
