Professor on leave after students say he flipped GOP election information table at UW-Eau Claire
- José Felipe Alvergue, a UW-Eau Claire professor, allegedly flipped a College Republican table on campus on Tuesday.
- The College Republicans were displaying campaign materials for Brad Schimel, a Supreme Court candidate, near the polling place.
- Tatiana Bobrowicz, chair of the College Republicans, stated Alvergue approached their table around 8:30 a.m. And overturned it in about ten seconds.
- Alvergue reportedly told them, "the time for this is over," before flipping the table; Bobrowicz said, "I had just finished setting up...when the professor went full-blown bonkers."
- The university placed Alvergue on administrative leave pending an investigation; Interim Provost Michael Carney expressed concern about the disruption.
