UN and AU agree to 'coordinate efforts' to resolve the crisis in South Sudan

The president of the Commission of the African Union (AU), Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, agreed with the secretary general of the UN, António Guterres, "coordinate efforts" to resolve the crisis in South Sudan, reported this Saturday the Pan-African organization.

"The catastrophic humanitarian situation is getting worse, many of them several times, 40,000 of which have been forced to move only in recent weeks," said Turk in his speech to the 58th session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva.

The peace deal in South Sudan is in shambles, according to the UN, after political unrest and intensification of fighting reminiscent of the tragic wars of the past.
